From bertrand.garrigues at laposte.net Sun Mar 18 20:20:10 2012 From: bertrand.garrigues at laposte.net (Bertrand Garrigues) Date: Sun, 18 Mar 2012 21:20:10 +0100 Subject: [Mipsel] xorg KO after update Message-ID: <20120318212010.259ccea7@baimi.jia> Hi, I'm quite new to Parabola (and even to Arch Linux in general, I basically only played with Debian-like distros). I've recently bought a Lemote Yeelong and managed to make Parabola work on it. I'm currently running lxde with satisfactory results, although I have problem with iceweasel but that's not the subject of the post. Yesterday I upgraded my system and this broke X. I got this message in the log: [ 139.736] (EE) module ABI major version (11) doesn't match the server's version (12) Therefore I tried to downgrade xorg-server, and eventually downgraded 3 packages because of dependencies: xf86-input-evdev 2.6.0-4 xf86-video-siliconmotion 1.7.5-5.1 xorg-server 1.11.4-1 And now my system is OK again. Did anyone encountered the same problem? Should I log a bug? Everyone has problems with IceWeasel?10 on mips64el, we use 9. > Yesterday I upgraded my system and this broke X. There are many modules which could be affected, the whole log would show which one. There might be also other problems. > Did anyone encountered the same problem? Should I log a bug? One user, he haven't published his logs. I use xorg-server 1.12, it works without any problems other than slow window drawing (I haven't measured if this worsened since the previous version). -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Please find attached my logs. I've just done a pacman -Syu to reproduce the problem. Also attached my whole /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d directory. For the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file ... hmm ... I don't have any, maybe that's the root cause? Best Regards Bertrand Garrigues Une messagerie gratuite, garantie ? vie et des services en plus, ?a vous tente ? Not having this file is a problem only with xf86-video-siliconmotion, all other drivers known to me have working defaults. > [ 18.799] (II) LoadModule: "siliconmotion" > [ 18.804] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/siliconmotion_drv.so > [ 18.823] (EE) Failed to load /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/siliconmotion_drv.so: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/siliconmotion_drv.so: undefined symbol: xf86ExecX86int10 > [ 18.823] (II) UnloadModule: "siliconmotion" > [ 18.823] (II) Unloading siliconmotion > [ 18.823] (EE) Failed to load module "siliconmotion" (loader failed, 7) Lines like 'Load "int10"' in the xorg.conf on wiki solve this problem. > [ 18.823] (II) LoadModule: "fbdev" > [ 18.823] (II) Loading /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/fbdev_drv.so > [ 18.834] (II) Module fbdev: vendor="X.Org Foundation" > [ 18.834] compiled for 1.11.1.901, module version = 0.4.2 > [ 18.834] ABI class: X.Org Video Driver, version 11.0 > [ 18.834] (EE) module ABI major version (11) doesn't match the server's version (12) > [ 18.835] (II) UnloadModule: "fbdev" > [ 18.835] (II) Unloading fbdev > [ 18.835] (EE) Failed to load module "fbdev" (module requirement mismatch, 0) This driver wouldn't be tried if siliconmotion could be loaded, I'll update it tomorrow. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... I've first update my system, the load of the 2nd driver was OK and X started without problem Then I've tried the xorg.conf you indicated me and all was OK too with the siliconmotion driver.
