i think gnutoo's intention is less about backup of live data; but
to codify the initial server setup and config, and make it
reproducible ("winston in a can") - for that, there are several
relevant tools running on winston - i believe gnutoo was asking
about holo; because its use was the least understood

for example, those backups are generated by duplicity; which i
did not bother to mention in our IRC discussion - among those
backups is the /etc directory - but in addition to those
scheduled backups, etckeeper is also tracking /etc - i suppose
because it offers more fine-grained rollback - but the etckeeper
store appears to be only local to etckeeper (not under ~/git) -
etckeeper supports pushing to a remote repo; but none is defined

the last bit is not so important; but as a matter or replicating
winston, i suppose that etckeeper and it's store should be
included in that "configuration management" laundry list
