ok there may be two mysteries here

all of the videos i linked in the previous message  play
correctly in the freshly-compiled iceweasel 97.0.2 with
libvpx=1.11.0-1 (the same as the package in libre) - so 'libvpx'
was the culprit in that case; and so there is no point in
publishing it

that does not explain why v98 with libvpx=1.11.0-1 has exactly
the same set of problems though; unless it should be compiled
against ffmpeg v5 - but if that is even possible, its not clear
why arch avoided doing so
