The API can be enabled, of course, the preference just needs to be flipped back and the URL of geolocation service has to be provided. The idea was to remove the default URL to Google service that can't be self-hosted in 100% free software stack AFAIK. Whoever needs to use it is free to add the URL back themselves. Services that can't be self-hosted in 100% free software stack are a freedom problem too, so I thought to make this change to at least bring someones attention to it. Probably we'll need to remove references to other such services, like DuckDuckGo search and replace them with self-hostable ones. re: i686, sounds good. But unfortunately I won't have time to check this out until this weekend. ??????? Original Message ??????? All of this work has been done on x86_64 parabola GNU/Linux-libre hosts using exclusively free software, so the ports are not tainted by non-free software. If you want to check out the virtual machine images, they are available here: https://mirror.grapentin.org/parabola-ports/riscv64/ https://mirror.grapentin.org/parabola-ports/powerpc64le/ We are currently limited by a lack of actual hardware, which we would need to progress further with these ports. All the work has been done in virtualization. This is also currently the largest problem limiting progress on this project, because compiling packages in emulated systems takes a lot longer than on real hardware. That being said, I believe that, on both architectures, parabola would boot in its current state. You would need to mount the image locally and extract the root file system to the real device, and then figure out how to build and set up a working boot loader. This is something I could not test yet, so I'm still a bit fuzzy about that. But the pieces are in place. I'm hoping for someone with real hardware to test the images, but so far nobody has come forward :) Best, Andreas On Fri, Apr 09, 2021 at 10:15:15AM -0400, Megver83 wrote: > Awesome!! ????? > I'm really excited about this, my only pain is not having real ppc and > risc-v hardware.
