the OP is not looking for a generally useful alternative package manager - the
specific use case is gnome development which presumably entails using the 'gnome
software' program and flatpaks

it was also mentioned earlier that maybe this was about the lack of a GUI for
pacman - its not that either and parabola does have GUI for pacman named octopi
