much the same as megver just said - i tried to make the argument that GUI support is desirable in the other thread https://lists.parabola.nu/pipermail/dev/2017-July/005685.html

regardless of what arch traditional is or "should be", the hard fact that many inexperienced people are using parabola for whetever the reason - i always try to convince them that an LTS distro is probably better for them but it seldom works - perhaps they are discouraged with trisquel or perhaps younger people are just too fickle about having only "the latest and greatest" - but they come in the IRC channel asking questions that clearly give them away as someone who is in "over their head" - but for each person that finds the IRC channel there are who knows how many that just give up - there is always the opportunity for them to learn but we need to ease their transition in - jumping head-first into an arch distro without a GUI is basically unthinkable for most people
