Considering that Facebook users... use Facebook.
Considering that Facebook users are probably among the people who most
need to learn about privacy, software freedom, and the alternatives they
could use if they wanted to, then having a project page on Facebook is
not necessarily an evil thing, especially if there are people to take
care of it.

Honestly, I never was able to pass the privacy settings of Facebook, so
I have not much of an idea of what it does beyond what can be found in
the Press (and especially, beyond what I'm exposed to as a GNU
webmaster, and as the GNU consensus maintainer--which is more than I
would like). Moreover I did this:

echo 127.0.253.6 facebook.com | sudo tee -a /etc/hosts

Which means that any request to Facebook servers end up in my local
server (and more precisely /dev/null). I recommend this setting for
anyone who can live without Facebook.

For other people, who have friends and family registered on this
brainjail, having access to information about alternatives may be a good
option. The real treat would be to never have to deal with it, but it's
like ignoring the Islamic State of terror because you don't speak arabic
and don't live in the Middle East: it has its limits, and they will
eventually reach you, like terrorists and corporations do. Without your
consent, and without giving a flying fsck about your ethics.

I bet the Parabola project does not support a Facebook account and it
shall remain unofficial. Nevertheless, since some energy is going that
way, it would be useful to think about how it is appropriate to channel
the Facebook-Parabolists out of this and into the free federation.
