Ha! How long have we been using "FSDG"?  It's been on our homepage
since before I had ever heard of Parabola.  Anyway, I just changed it
from "FSDG" to "(GNU) FSDG" on the "Nomenclature" wiki page[0].

What I did:

    On Friday (at about 11:00 PM UTC), on repo.parabolagnulinux.org, I
    set `PKGPOOL=pool/parabola`, and created `pool/parabola` in the
    web root.  Newly staged packages from Parabola will go there.
    Eventually, `pool/packages` will just be packages from Arch.[0]

What it affects:

    I don't imagine this affects anybody in a real way, but figured it
    might affect some mirrors, so I should announce it.

    Unfortunately, it did cause a problem with db-sync, where
    `pool/{packages,community}` were not be updated, though the
    symlinks pointing to them were.  This was first reported out by
    IRC user ciclognu at 3:40 PM UTC earlier today.

Why I did it:

    This was to fix previously-theoretical repo breakage with packages
    that are repackaged with the same name, where the Arch version
    overwrites the Parabola version.  (This causes pacman to say
    something about "maximum filesize exceeded" if the Arch version is
    larger, I imagine there's a similar message if the Arch version is
    smaller) On Friday, I had discovered that this actually happened
    with the 'antlr2' package, making the problem no longer
    theoretical.  After making the change, I audited the repos, and
    concluded that antlr2 was the only affected package.

What I did to fix the new error:

    I originally theorized that re-running db-sync would fix the
    (thought-to-be-transient) issue.  Emulatorman ran db-sync, and
    discovered that this was not the case.  From his error log, I was
    able to identify the issue, which was that db-sync tries to rsync
    *all* PKGPOOLS with the Arch mirror.  I fixed this by creating a
    separate ARCHPKGPOOLS variable that is used by db-sync instead.
    This was done, and the repos repaired by 9:48 PM UTC.

Conclusion:

    The new error made me aware of the fact that during normal
    opperation of db-sync, the sync'ed repos are briefly in an invalid
    state where new packages exist in the DBs and as symlinks, but not
    in the pools.  This only lasts for a few seconds, and has caused
    no (reported) errors to date, but it makes me unhappy.  I hope
    that this is one of the nails in the coffin for db-sync, so it can
    be replaced by db-import (which I now realize I have never
    published).

     sharing package files for mirrors that mirror both Arch and
     Parabola mirrors.  The current solution is... gross.  Most
     packages will eventually be moved as they get updated.  We'll

We have no interested developers.  I'm not able to fix important bugs
that prevented the mips64el port from being usable for me and I don't
have much time for a project with no hope of success, other developers
have no hardware (a problem mostly for using, not for development) or
left Parabola for their own reasons.

It's now easier to get an FSF-endorseable Thinkpad X60 which is much
faster and well-supported than a YeeLoong.

Using a Debian-based distro is easier too, since they already have
working MIPS-specific code (some is used also on Android tablets),
already keep up to date and buildable software and have packages that we
haven't ever ported (like GHC or OpenJDK).

Can you maintain the port?  This needs building many packages, fixing
them to build (they probably fail on x86 too), porting Web browsers and
making release media.

BitTorrent, you may not run any bit torrent application/script, tracker, 
or client, and will suspend/terminate any offending account."

So, we'd better have a backup tracker in case they notice XD. Who wants 
to run one? opentracker is recommended.

I just pushed libretools v20140630 to [libre-testing].  It's hopefully
a minor release for users, but it is reasonably large release from an
architecture standpoint, which is why it is on -testing.

The big exciting architecture changes are the introduction of "XBS" or
"$X Build System".  The idea is to abstract away the differences
between ABS, ABSLibre, and the much-talked-about-but-never-released
PBS.  The long-term goal is that it will make it possible to flip a
switch, and turn PBS on.  However, the short term benefits are great
too; it helps address deficiencies in ABSLibre[1], and it will make it
much easier to pull changes and fixes from Arch's dbscripts.

Changes since v20140515:
 * New package: xbs
 * New tool: libredbdiff: For comparing Arch DBs to Parabola DBs
 * New tool: librexgettext: Generates .pot files for librelib-users
 * librestage:
   - Refuses to stage a package if there are uncommited changes in its
     directory.
   - Also stages the PKGBUILD in xbs.  This is currently ignored on
     the server-side; but that will hopefully change soon.
 * libreblacklist:
   - Supports comments in blacklist.txt; lines beginning with '#' are
     ignored.
 * default libretools.conf:
   - Comment: Document that REPOS is no longer used by createworkdir
   - Default: Use the non-symlink/shorthand path to the git repos in
     ABSLIBRE{RECV,SEND}
   - New variable: ABSLIBREDEST: used by xbs-abslibre to stage
     PKGBUILDs.

Bugfixes since v20140515:
 * createworkdir:
   - No longer requires REPOS to be set in libretools.conf
   - No longer produces color escape sequences in the output if stdout
     is not a terminal.
 * librerelease:
   - Potential lockfile invalidation related to filedescriptor numbers
     was fixed.
 * librestage:
   - Fixed typo in an error message
   - Potential lockfile invalidation related to filedescriptor numbers
     was fixed.
 * librechroot:
   - Correctly escapes temp file names in all cases.
 * libremakepkg:
   - Does not mangle the output when wrapping lines
 * fullpkg:
   - Runs correctly.  I take it that since no one reported that it
     didn't run, no one was using it.  It may be removed.
 * gitget:
   - Correctly handles doing a checkout when the ref is a tag.
 * libregit:
   - Runs correctly.  Since it is provided for compatibility for some
     scripts that use it, I'm not too surprised that no one reported
     this; they're mostly server tools.
 * conf.sh:
   - Learned about xbs* slugs.
   - Fixed grammar mistake in the man page.
 * libremessages:
   - Fixed grammar mistake in the man page.
 * librefetch:
   - Man page was cleaned up.

Minor changes since v20140515:
 * createworkdir:
   - (internal) Uses xbs.
 * librestage:
   - (internal) Now takes advantage of new-ish functions in
     libremessages
 * librelib:
   - Is now GPLv2+ instead of GPLv3+

Regressions since v20140515:
 * librechroot:
   - Due to a regression in systemd-nspawn since v20140515 was
     released, exit codes are no longer correct; any non-zero value
     becomes a 1.  I have submitted a fix upstream, and it looks like
     it will be accepted.  Hopefully systemd v215 will be released
     soon-ish.

[1]: I know I like to complain, but there really are problems with
     ABSLibre.  Because it doesn't track different architectures,
     db-move is broken; fixing db-move has at the top of the bug
     trackers and todo lists since before I was ever involved in
     Parabola 3 years ago!  XBS introduces a simple mechanism for
     tracking this.
