A trivial modification of the script sums /isos as 2115913496 (10.88%). Things not shown by the script: - lines with small data size?? it would be too much to show, and it's mostly useless since the script lists each wiki article on a separate line - the bot sum includes only honest bots which don't claim to be MSIE or other browsers Things not logged: - accesses not done between March?4 and 5; I assume these dates aren't untypical - other data than HTTP response data size My recommendations: - add a /robots.txt file blocking all bots from anything on repo.parabolagnulinux.org - remove ISO images unless there are users who cannot use torrents or other mirrors - block bots not respecting robots.txt by user agents if future logs will show them having big traffic here - promote using other mirrors Unlike other sites, repo.parabolagnulinux.org doesn't need to be indexed by search engines, so there should be no problem with blocking bots. I haven't seen much learning from the experts on the lists, labs.parabola.nu and #parabola might be useful for that. With proper subscription interface having separate lists shouldn't be a problem, if all users know about relevant lists (lists other than dev and maintenance being mostly unused might be affected by this). -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... I recommend removing the "you're booting into a /libre/ version of Archlinux" message, I don't see any usefulness of it. I believe changes like the following ones could be better for this: - put the message in /etc/motd - have Parabola themes for login managers emphasizing this - editing the text above news on https://parabolagnulinux.org/ - having links to gnu.org in default browser bookmarks and in appropriate menus -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Install the package as follows: |pacman -S filesystem --force| It is strongly advised to avoid the |--force| or |-f| switch as it is not safe. However, in this particular case it is needed as deleting |/etc/mtab| manually would break pacman. The reason for the conflict is that the file used to be generated at boot and hence not owned by any package. Now it is a symlink to |/proc/self/mounts| owned by |filesystem|. This change means that |initscripts| no longer requires write access to the rootfs (though other packages might). -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... So Parabola only sounds good, now, in the boot and the website it should be fine to say somewhere Parabola a GNU / Linux-libre distro. Or somethings which mean that it use only free software and a fully free Linux version. The advantage is like that people which wish for a Parabola comes and make their choice ... maybe later we will have a Hurd version ... so like that people, at the same place will be free to make their choice ... ok i am at Parabola ... so which one i guess for the Linux-libre one or the Hurd ... or the ... all in one with just Parabola. Now we have to think of the trouble to migrate all to another domaine name, we will loose all the links writed on other website. So if we make a complet migration of the website ... we have to get time to correct all link we can and inform webmaster of other website. Have fun & be free! I believe we want to make it clear that we aren't a part of the GNU Project and that we use GNU Linux-libre and not Linux. I consider these important enough arguments to not change the name. Use "Parabola" when you don't need to emphasize that it's a GNU/Linux-libre distro. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... We already discussed having "Parabola" as the generic name for the project and "Parabola GNU/Linux-libre" for the operating system using Linux-libre as the kernel. "Ubuntu" is the full name, though "Debian" isn't. The author is the creator/maintainer of gnuclad, and this is his "Look what gnuclad can do" project. Some of you already know me, some don't. I've been a Parabola user for some time, took care of some things and built some packages in the past. I've also built some of the ISOs. At some point I had to stop because I didn't had enough time. In the mean time I wanted to start a special fork of Arch, using the Parabola tools, but those plans got stalled. I'm writing this because I would like to regain write access to the repos. It's true that I still don't have enough time to take care of more things, but from time to time I might be able to build some packages for both i686 and x86_64. I'll most likely push them to a personal repo, but if needed I might help with the official packages too. If you all agree with this, or if anyone has something against this, I'd like to know. -- <>< Sorin-Mihai V?rgolici Proud member of Ceata (http://ceata.org/) Arcada developer (https://arcadaproject.org/) From fauno at kiwwwi.com.ar Thu Mar 29 16:43:51 2012 From: fauno at kiwwwi.com.ar (=?utf-8?Q?Nicol=C3=A1s?= Reynolds) Date: Thu, 29 Mar 2012 13:43:51 -0300 Subject: [Dev] [GNU-linux-libre] Clementine music player In-Reply-To: <1511118.7KKbkOCUFh@crunch> References: <20120329213016.3814db42@epicfail.kgoetz.id.au> <87pqbvh3bl.fsf@kiwwwi.com.ar> <1511118.7KKbkOCUFh@crunch> Message-ID: <87fwcrgxx4.fsf@kiwwwi.com.ar> On Thu, 29 Mar 2012 12:43:19 -0300, Leo wrote: > On Thursday 29 March 2012 11:47 Nicol?s Reynolds wrote: > > On Thu, 29 Mar 2012 21:30:16 +1100, Karl Goetz wrote: > > > Hi all, > > > I noticed an email on fedora-legal about the Clementine music player, > > > and I was wondering if someone had any direct experience with it. > > > > > > The relevant part of the mail is: > > > > The application uses Spotify's trademarks and their copyrighted logo > > > > and suggests that the user pull in a proprietary application called > > > > "Spotify Core" to use the feature.
