regarding "_all_" - it would be difficult to find any hardware
manufacturer, for which all of their hardware works with free
drivers

with new laptops, the wireless radio in probably 99% of them,
will not work with free drivers - unless you do the research and
find one with a wireless device that is listed n h-node, you
should plan on replacing it - it is not terribly difficult to
do; and you can always use a USB radio instead of replacing the
internal one
