[Assist] Proposal for a forum

I find Reddit a bit less intuitive and friendly than a forum. 

It's very hard for people without a certain amount of "karma" to post
or comment (as a means of automatic spam protection), Reddit's default
search sucks when you want to search a specific subreddit and it's hard
to organize things by topic. There are flairs for the latter, but they
feel like a kludge and don't work very well most of the time.

Not to mention the whole idea of "karma" is very clicky and practically
encourages bullying among other nasty things, such as hijacking. 
It's discouraging to both see people with good points getting downvoted
because the majority disagrees as well as seeing people with horrible
low-effort comments, such as "TL;DR" and "For those who don't
understand this comment here is a link" getting hundreds of upvotes.

I wish Reddit had options to turn the karma system for subreddits
entirely.

I do use Reddit occasionally (with an extension to disable karma
locally), but I much prefer the old forum format.
