[Assist] Unknown host output while trying to ping a website.

I was trying to install Parabola and I configured my dsl connection 
using "pppoe-setup".
After running the "pppoe-start" or "pppoe-connect"  I get my system 
connected to the internet .
When I try to ping "www.google.com" or any other website the output says 
'Unknown host'
but when I ping to an IP address of any website the system does gets a 
reply.
I have pinged to IP addresses like 8.8.8.8 and the Parabola's website.
