It's probably some aur packages conflicts with the new filesystem(or some files created by you in this directory or programms installed in other way than pacman eg. make install) . I had the same issue yesterday and solve it this way: pacman -Su filestystem -> it will show you which directories filesystem really conflicts. Then(temporarly) remove all files which don't belong to any package. Then for each directory run: pacman -Qs /dir/full/path -> it will show you which packages uses those dirs. Uninstall all aur packages. Then upgrade the filesystem and install that aur packages agian. I hope this helps. All repos on repo.parabolagnulinux.org are official, pcr and community too. non-official repos are these that you have added to /etc/pacman.conf that don't use the Parabola mirrorlist. Assuming there are none, "pacman -Syu --ignore filesystem, bash" should not fail, then "pacman -S bash" should work and "pacman -Su" should work. I really recomend not to use icecat on this machine - it's to slow. The best solution would be netsurf. It has its own rendering engine and it's really fast and dealing with web pages much better than dillo. > The problem is that gdm does not run after reboot. This Yeeloong machines are not the most powerful ones so I think that gdm is unnessesery. Simple shell login and startx isn't enough for you? But anyway you must install DBus to have systemd working properly(dbus package in parabola repo). Then try to add gdm, as root: systemctl enable gdm If it doesn't report any error but X won't start, try to run in terminall: xinit /usr/bin/gdm -- :0 and tell me what do you get. I installed it via pacman, but it fails to load libpng shared object, saying netsurf: error while loading shared libraries: libpng15.so.15: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory > > The problem is that gdm does not run after reboot. I gave up using gdm and run startxfce4. X starts up and seemingly works fine, except that I get corrupted screen if you move windows. The problem is no matter how many times I reinstall DBus it does not work at all. I cannot use systemctl, nm-applet, or many other useful programs. For example, systemctl says Failed to get D-Bus connection: No connection to service manager. I noticed that every time I run pacman it warns me saying waring: config file /etc/pacman.conf, line 19: diective 'SyncFirst' in section 'options' not recognized. The problem is probably caused by using the newest netsurf with old libpng. You need to upgrade libpng with: s pacman -Sy libpng Or better yet upgrade whole system. > I gave up using gdm and run startxfce4. If you don't want to do some complexed tasks with your connection(3G modems, vps) I would recommend netctl(check arch wiki). netctl is command line application but it's simple and well documented so I believe you won't have problem with using it and you can save your RAM and CPU. Alternativly if you want something with GUI, use wicd it's also much lighter than NetworkManager. > Failed to get D-Bus connection: No connection to service manager. Did you try to run systemctl start dbus? I've had simillar issue on my yeelong but I don't remember what have I done to solve it. No version of iceweasel-libre after 9 builds and works on mips64el (10 up to something froze, newer versions need JIT support to build), the currently available package is known to be unsigned, has many open security issues and depends on obsolete versions of many libraries. You can extract old libpng15 and libffi libraries to run it (only .so.*, not .so files). >> I really recomend not to use icecat on this machine - it's to slow. >> The best solution would be netsurf. The mips64el base tarball is vastly outdated. Run "ls -l /proc/1/exe" as root, if it's /sbin/init with no link to /usr/lib/systemd/systemd, then move to systemd as described on the wiki. > I gave up using gdm and run startxfce4. Check /etc/pacman.conf.pacnew, the base tarball has an older pacman version. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... For some reason parabola is not detecting my wireless hardware. When I run iwconfig, it does not report the existence of any wireless device on my laptop. Is this because there isn't any free software available for my wireless card? I find this difficult to believe because I'm almost certain that it was running fine using a free driver on ubuntu. When I plug in a separate usb wireless card I am prompted with this error "1-1: Missing Free firmware" "usb 1-1 ath9k_htc: Async request for firmware /*(DEBLOBBED)*/ failed. Even if a driver for a device is not found (nescessary for it to show up as an interface in iwconfig), it will show up in lspci. > Is this because there isn't any free software available for my wireless > card? The /*(DEBLOBBED)*/ message means that it requires non-free firmware, as the above message indicates. Part of the way that removing non-free drivers from the Linux kernel works is that in addition to deleting the firmware file, it replaces the filename in the source with "/*(DEBLOBBED)*/", so that even if you installed the firmware file, the kernel wouldn't be able to find it, because it is looking at a bogus file path. > I had both of these devices working fine using free drivers on other > devices. I know at the very least that I did not personally install any > proprietary drivers and they appeared to be using atheros drivers. The normal Linux kernel includes many non-free drivers. For this reason, we use a fork of Linux called Linux-libre. When you were on Ubuntu, you had many non-free drivers installed by simple virtue of having the normal Linux kernel. > My laptop is a Lenovo Thinkpad T530. > > I'd like to know what's going wrong, and how to fix it if possible. > Any help is sincerely appreciated in advance. I'm obligated to tell you that (assuming your internal wifi card requires non-free firmware, and it's not another issue) the fix is to buy freedom-friendly hardware. However, as a short-term fix, it is possible to patch the Linux-libre kernel against Linux to support your specific hardware, or to install a regular Linux kernel; but the Parabola team cannot help you do either of these things. Resources on obtaining hardware that works with free software: - http://h-node.org/ is a free-software hardware compatability database - https://www.thinkpenguin.com/ sells hardware known to work with free software. Message-ID: <51BA17C7.7040709@riseup.net> Hello. I am currently migrating from Arch Linux to parabola, just to try it out. I attempted to install the keyring and mirrorlist as documented on this page . The first package listed on that page is a 404, so I followed the advice on given on the page: "Note: This address can change if we update both packages. If it does not work please look for the upgrade here and please edit this article." I found the correct package -- the url given as " should actually be "http://repo.parabolagnulinux.org/pool/packages/parabola-keyring-20130529-1-any.pkg.tar.xz" . The mirrorlist package does not need to be updated. Unfortunately, attempting to register a wiki account (via this link ) in order to update the package url leads to this error (screenshot attached): Internal error [33a0c504] 2013-06-13 18:41:11: Fatal exception of type MWException So, I figured someone could either help me get a wiki account registered, or update the wiki, or maybe even come up with way of making an always-up-to-date package url so that this stale link issue doesn't happen again. Alfplayer (livecd maintainer) is on it making a new livecd with the lastest parabola-keyring version, but at the moment you should update parabola-keyring before install the packages that you need for you machine. You need type it: pacman -Syu parabola-keyring try repopulate it again pacman-key --init pacman-key --populate parabola pacman-key --populate archlinux After this, you should update the system with the gpg renewed from parabola-keyring without problems pacman -Syu ------------ pr?xima parte ------------ Se ha borrado un adjunto en formato HTML...
