[Assist] Failling to log in

Perhaps you have (I haven't been on in a couple of days), but I
suggest you look for help on the #parabola IRC channel, people are
generally more responsive there.

Do you have an odd keyboard, locale, or non-ASCII characters in your
password?  My best guess from the information provided is that
something about the keyboard map that is loaded at login-time changed,
and the login program isn't recieving the same characters that you
think you're typing.
