[Assist] keyboard layout

Hello,

Any advice on setting the keyboard layout in both console and
x11 to en_US and print ISO-8859-1 characters (accents and tildas) by
typing ALT-GR and the letter?

I have built the en_US.ISO-8859-1 locale and have the following
in my /etc/rc.conf file:

KEYMAP="US"
CONSOLEFONT="Lat2-Terminus16"
CONSOLEMAP=
LOCALE="en_US.ISO-8859-1"

I have used "setxkbmap es" in the past, but it's not ideal since I
type in English mostly and it doesn't modify the console.
